on the advancing Germans, they were forced initially to fight it out on the ground using
anything at their disposal. As the Americans transitioned from stunned withdrawal to
valiant defense, they slowed the German advance and the weather cleared allowing air
support to bring help to the soldiers on the ground as reinforcements rushed to the front.
At great cost, the Allies were able to halt this last German offensive of the war and start
the final countdown to the end of the Third Reich.
