a foot hold on the bridge. We were fairly certain that the opposing force would have similar plan; send one force directly towards the bridge and one to flank around to hold the barracks side of the area. At game start both forces made hard pushes according to their battle plans. The airborne went on a hard flank and quickly engaged forces attempting to flank. The allied German force was able to get a solid foot hold in the buildings at the opposite side of the bridge. Minutes into the game both sides were in heavy fire fights. The game was on! D-Day had officially started! We continued to hold and push around the Old Pond North of the barracks wall as the
enemy sent wave after wave towards us. They were able to whittle us down but we held, preventing them from taking out our flank. In addition to holding the flank a few daring souls were able to sneak through the bushes and take strafing runs at complacent targets who thought they were safe at the back line. One of those runs took out their commander. Meanwhile the opposing infantry forces duked it out over the bridge. The CEF pushed hard time and time again but they weren’t able to break the enemy’s hold on the bridge. Fortunately we still had some freedom to maneuver so myself and Brad Sutton got sneaky and went down the valley north of Pegasus and came back up the ridgeline behind the bridge.
