Early Saturday morning , the beginning of October tends to be a little chilly . However , you wouldn ’ t notice it . There was so much excitement and energy in the air from the collective attendance . In the COVID ravaged world , we players were united in a way that I have not ever witnessed . We were all there to escape , to play a game that we love , for a producer that has made his mark in the annals of paintball history . Something special was going to transpire .
The Orientation briefing that happen before every scenario paintball game where rules , safety , and direction are discussed , the young Generals , took it upon themselves to address the issues and facets that brought us all together in the first place . They both advocated for a fun , safe game and drove home the aspect of sportsmanship , knowing that we were congregating to escape our daily life shenanigans . A small gesture really struck a chord in the masses .
As we were walking onto the field for the anticipated Game On horn , the generals gave their first orders . I was fighting for Red so I knew what we were told . From what I witnessed , Blue was to strike immediately towards the Red command post and spawn , while Red was to take on a land grab strategy to pinch and cutoff the Blue forces .
When the horn sounded , the runners for Red took off to gain as much territory as we could , while the heavy shooters and gunners drove towards the encroaching Blue front . Both teams were separated by a swath of trees that gave an organic “ grinder ” situation that felt like a homage to the roots of woodsball towards the budding infancy of the sport . The battle in the grinder was fierce , intense , and highly contested . The roar of the firefight could be heard echoing all over the field and especially near both command posts . www . paintball . media
