I will add another observation about teams with open invites here as well . As a general rule , there are two reasons why teams will have open invites . The first reason is for sponsorship and buying power . It is believed by some that if your team is big enough you can get serious discounts by making purchases in bulk , which is true , but that is also a double edged sword . You see this can limit what kind of gear you can use as you are now required to shoot that brand of paint or wear that brand of goggles . What if the paint sucks or the goggles do not fit your face properly ? Conflict within the team is what happens .
Ah the second reason for open invites and this happens so often that it is honestly scary . The people creating the new team , left their old drama filled team in some sort of explosive fashion and now want to “ flex ” on the old team with how big and amazing the new team is . So , a new team is formed as a “ Screw You ” to the other team . That is just lame and sad , because any team formed under those circumstances is just going to implode as bad , if not worse . Do you want to be a part of a team like that ? I definitely do not . Life is too short to be used as a pawn by someone else to inflate their ego .
So , I should end this article with how to find a great team to play with the right way . Grab your gear and go hit the field . When you are having fun , look who is playing next to you and then go introduce yourself in the parking lot afterwards . Just have fun , make friends . You WILL be invited to join lots of teams if you do that . If you can not find that team that you click with , that is okay because as sure as the sun rises in the morning , if you are out there having fun on the paintball field , it is only a matter of time before someone will come up to you in the parking lot wanting to shake your hand … that is the start of your new team .
A great team never has to beg for players , it just evolves from respect and friendship .
