Blues Crew heading into battle . Not many teams play both rec-ball and tournament paintball .
Ok , I will admit that title is a bit of an splatter represents especially if you make them red . With red it just looks gory and if that is how you want to portray your team , what does that say about the players ? Put “ PAINTBALL TEAM ” in your logo so people know what it is and grow the sport . Leave the splats on the field .
As for the name , well it was very “ basic ”. No , I am not going to tell you the name or give examples because that is just mean and rude , but I will explain . In paintball , we have some of the worst team names ever . 9 times out of 10 these names come from sheer laziness . A group of people get together , they want to play , and name is required so they put down just about anything . I love this about paintball actually . This does not make a bad name ; it is just part of our paintball culture . These names can be spotted in an instant and they are usually funny as hell . No , a bad name is when someone is trying to hard to be cool and tries to pick a name that sounds rough and tough . You know the type of name that when you read it , you think … “ Okay , the team must have let one of their kids in 5th grade name the team because ….” So , between the name and the logo , I automatically became skeptical of this team , but my friend asked my opinion , so I read into the post further .
What really amplified my concerns was that they were posting this on social media with an open invitation that anyone can join the team . “ All are welcome ”. Open invites to a team where all are welcome is a serious short cut in forming a team . Remember the Magic 2 ? You can not make the Magic 2 happen with an open roster that lets anyone play . This is not being “ elitist ”, this is only common sense . For example , think about any professional sport . Players get cut and traded all the time . The trade is not because they are not talented , they are professional trained players . No , they are cut and traded because the personalities do not fit the current team dynamic . Often the cut or traded player excels on the other team where his or her personality is more suited to that team . The same applies to paintball , more so if you think about it . With all the different types and styles of game play , standard team roles do not exist in our sport . But I am getting off topic … by allowing anyone to be part of the team you are automatically inviting disagreements and conflicts because everyone is not going to be on the same page . Everyone will have
