The events are organized by the usual anonymous figures , with the same familiar faces showing up each time . The vibe really takes me back to 1985 when I first started playing — a time when the game was all about honor , with no need for chronos or referees .
Because these events take place in remote areas , the fields are unlike the typical , overused paintball parks . Sometimes , we even need to do a bit of pruning to open up pathways , as many of these locations have never been played on before . We always use biodegradable paint and ensure that we leave no trace behind .
After 25 years of photographing high-pressure , large-scale tournaments around the world , I ’ ve rediscovered the joy of paintball through these small , local , and fun events . I ’ ll keep attending for as long as I can — at least until we all get caught or arrested .
