The Golden State Open was the fourth event of six scheduled tournaments for the National Xball League in 2021 . Originally schedule as one of two Amateur Open events , the league opened the event to Professional teams in the weeks leading up to the event — a move that caused a level of controversary as the Astra Invitational , a Pro / Semipro event , was scheduled for the same weekend .
The Golden State Open drew 83 teams spread across nine divisions . Capital Edge Paintball Park , one of the best paintball parks in California , was the event ’ s host field . The park features a dozen fields , from airball , to hyperball , mounds fields , urban fields , a village field and much more . Parking was plentiful , the staging areas were more than enough and the location was an ideal 12 miles from downtown Sacramento .

The Games

The Pro division had five teams entered and ready to compete — and although the Golden State Open dropped the word “ Amateur ” from the title to allow Pro teams , the seed points would not count towards the pro year-end rankings .
