Division 5
PBGateway’ s TexeCutioners took first place. The Dallas kids of Texas Sannin came in second. New York Khaos slid into the three spot by upsetting the local PBGateway V3.
WNXL
There was no Pro WNXL or XBall competition in Texas, but that did not stop the ladies from showing up to compete. Two local women’ s teams entered the 5v5 in the Dallas Dolls, a feeder squad for Vibe, and Vengeance, a conglomerate team. Vengeance was a line made of female divisional players from Texas, enjoined by guest Allison Cook of San Francisco Sirens and breakout player Lauren Bohlander out of the heart of the Colorado scene at Dynamic Paintball. A contingent from Mexico, Armada Nova, and the Women’ s Mexican Saints rounded out the bracket.
Armada Nova stayed with the competition. They faced off against the Dallas Dolls three times and bested them, two of three, and they split matchups with the Mexican Saints. But they couldn’ t find an answer for Vengeance who beat them in all five matchups over the course of the weekend.
The Dallas Dolls took home gold over Vengeance, however, beating them in under three minutes in the finals.
Amateur 10 Versus 10
The Ten vs. Ten has picked up some steam this season in the National Xball League. Sixteen teams entered the event— some franchises you probably know and some you may not. And scattered amongst the teams was a smattering of well-known players and former pros you may recognize if you’ ve been around long enough to have seen“ classic” paintball before it had that moniker.
In the early stages of the 10 vs. 10 it felt like PBGateway 2 was going to run away with this thing— they were making quick work of their opponents throughout the preliminary rounds. Houston VcK and Butchers Northwest were solid as well. In the end it would be CRBN, a team that barley made the Sunday cut, crawling to the finish line, winning Sunday battle after battle. Houston Vck took second, Philippines placed third and PBGateway 2 grabbed that last podium spot.
The Open Seven Vs Seven division drew seven teams, with Valhalla clearly dominating the preliminary rounds. Philippines did enough to win and advance into Sunday play where they would meet Valhalla in the finals. Despite playing nearly flawless paintball for three rounds, Valhalla would fall short in the finals, losing to the Philippines.
We’ ll see you at the World Cup in November!
