Pro X-Ball
Coming into this event in Texas, there was one clear crowd favorite: PBFit.
After a freshman season win at World Cup, PBFit came into the season still rolling, taking gold in Tampa over Dynasty. The two teams would square off again in Atlantic City in the semis, and Fit would go one to win a third straight event by defeating the TonTons.
Red Legion would issue a second straight disappointment to the TonTons in Cincinnati, leaving the Frenchmen hungry for gold coming into Texas.
Between events, there was significant turnover in the Impact roster, and Tampa Bay Damage picked up a number of players from around the league including Alex Goldman, Chris Shehr, and Marcello Margott.
Suffice it to say, the underlying rivalries were thick in Texas.
The eyes of the crowd were on Bracket 1, as the weekend kicked off where the New Orleans Hurricanes and the hometown favorite PBFit dominated until Saturday afternoon. Giving the crowd plenty to cheer about, PBFit issued a 4-2 loss to ac: Diesel, a 4-3 slugfest match to a red hot Hurricanes squad, and won out 4-0 over NRG Elite.
Arsenal was the clear upstart squad, going undefeated through the prelims. The only other team to accomplish that was Edmonton Impact.
Uprising is coming together this season, and sitting strong at the top end of the pack. They started their weekend with a 2-1 win over Houston Heat. They then took a hard 0-3 loss from Red Legion, but bounced back with a 5-2 over Aftermath and an affirmative 4-0 win over the Ironmen. In the playoffs, it was Seattle’ s time to shine as they knocked off the local favorites in the quarters. With their win over PBFit, they looked like they would head deep into Sunday.
