Schwandt would choose the hyperball side spawn to start the game on Saturday, a choice that played heavily in his favor. The structure of the field created a choke point outside of the opposing Town side spawn, making it easy work to spawn trap the Red Cryptids, which Blue did for a large portion of the day. They would own the field for many of the spoils quests that happened every hour. At the top of each hour, Trader Kristy( Barno) and Trader Joe( Perez) would ring a large cast iron bell to announce turnover to the next mission. Each of which Blue owned on Saturday.
Bradley“ Drill Sergeant” Ferraro, coach of the Extreme Bucks’ classic tournament team, was a formidable field commander. Schwandt credits him with making some beast moves, but also having the situational awareness and wherewithal to make the game enjoyable for everyone there.
Sunday, the sides flipped, and the field construction played in favor of the Red team. Reportedly, it seemed that Red won the battle of Sunday attrition as well. Capitalizing on the field layout and the body count, Red was able to mount a sizable comeback that kept the game engaging.
The Blue team struggled to gain a foothold on Sunday, and Red was able to capture props and spoils all day. They made a great run at it, but ultimately came up short at the end. The final score had the two teams separated by a mere 200 points, with Schwandt’ s Blue Folk Heroes taking the win.
Schwandt awarded Otter Chaos with the Blue MVT, saying that there were times when Preacher carried the entire Blue team on his back.
