Since 2005, Adrenaline Paintball in Melbourne, Ontario has made its name as a premier paintball park in Canada. With a variety of well-developed playing fields and an expansive property, it is an ideal location for hosting dynamic events. So when CPX Events sought a field for an international game in the north, it was a natural choice. And with that, this September 26 through 28, Adrenaline welcomed a new era of scenario paintball to Canada with CPX Canadian Legends.
The theme for Canadian Legends was centered around mystical adventures, and writer Kristy Barno incorporated elements of magic, sorcery, music, and mystical lore to tell the story. With fields like Mystic Meadows, Logger’ s Ridge, Raven’ s Peak, Shadow Spring, Wendigo Woods, Timberline Village, Sasquatch Stomp, and Lumber Hill, players had a wide map to engage in gunfights for field control. At the same time, they had Mini Missions off field such as Mystery Messages, Folklore Facts, and Cryptid
Knowledge that tested a range of player talents from their musical prowess to problem-solving skills all weekend long.
The red team, Cryptids, was commanded by Danni Lauzon of the Canadian powerhouse scenario team Covert Ops. Despite dealing with a house fire the week of the game, Lauzon showed up with her family in tow and was able to draw upon the support of her squad in leadership. She called upon the Devil Dogs as a second pillar team.
But it was the Blue team who came in with the recruiting advantage. The blue Folk Heroes was led by commander Drew Schwandt of Extreme Bucks and his XO Scott Da Groot of Northern Gunmen. Together, they drew teams like the legendary woodsballers, Boonie Boys, the Major League Paintball Pro squad, the Royal City Sea Dogs, and the heavyhitting Otter Chaos led by scenario ball’ s reigning MVP, John“ Preacher” Vance.
