The property was cleared of overgrowth , access roads and trails were built , concrete catch basins and risers were brought in to build a network of bunkers , and then they were stacked strategically like Legos . Although it could have waited until after the event , the team at Black Ops made sure to do it right , installing advanced scoring devices and building drainage ditches to ensure the safety and the stability of the field into the future . Then Giener and company , taking the player and the culture of Honu events inconsideration , went to the next level and built a campground on site .
Though the field is far from complete , it gave the players a great sense of what is to come at Black Ops in the future .
More than 300 players turned out for the event , a number that was reduced from previous September scenarios at Myrtle Beach , but not by much . In fact , the margin was pretty much on par with what scenarios around the country have been dealing with all season .
Themed as two pirate factions discovering a long lost Mayan civilization left on an island , Black Flag was written with cumulative missions : each one providing clues on how to solve the next . The commanders , Steve Nordan of Carange and Curtis Baumgardner of the Headhunterz
Nordan , along with his XOs Jacob “ Alien ” Easter and Ross “ Bungee ” Wishnia , headed up the Red Marauders , would pull a stacked squad including heavy-weight teams like the Toxic Teddys , the Timber Ghosts , and Task Force Legion along with some of Florida ’ s finest with notorious squads like the Hyenas . On the other side , captained by Baumgardner , the Blue Buccaneers made the North / South connection aligning with XOs Marty Baughman out of Virginia and Jason Berenato from South Florida . www . paintball . media
