Semi Pro Xball Games
Twenty-four teams entered the Semiprofessional division of the NXL Windy City Major . And like the Pro division , teams and fans of the game are closely watching the rankings leaderboard . Not only for bragging rights and sponsorship benefits , but to see which two teams would be elevated to the Pro division for 2025 . That said , there was still this event and the World Cup to make those last attempts to climb the rankings ladder .
Leverage , the Royal City Seadogs , Noobies , Chicago Distortion , New York Wrecking Crew , Ology , TJ Bastards , Greenville Growl and Pittsburgh Saints were all hanging around the top of the leaderboard coming into Chicago . But it was Leverage at the top with first , second and third place finishes in three events so far in 2024 .
Of the 24 teams playing the Semipro division only Leverage ( of course ) and Royal City Seadogs could muster four first-round wins . Pittsburgh Saints , Shut Up We ’ re Trying , Denver Altitude , Nasty , KC Missouri All Stars , New York Wrecking Crew and Noobies each won three of four preliminary round games . The Royal City Seadogs , Leverage , New York Wrecking Crew and KC Missouri All Stars all made it unscathed to the semifinals .
In what could have been a great finals matchup , New York Wrecking Crew put an end to Leverage ’ s perfect undefeated event in the semis with a 5-2 win . The Royal City Seadogs beat the KC Missouri All Stars , whose best finish to date was 9th place in Las Vegas , 4-2 in the semifinals .
