TThe UPBF ( United Paintball Federation ) partnership with the NXL Europe and the Millennium Series in the past has been one of the more exciting aspects of European play over the years with crowds of spectators lined up five people deep at times , cheering for their country . Pre-pandemic each event would have one “ Nations Cup ” aspect to it where all-star teams would compete in specific divisions : Veterans , Under 19 , Under 16 , Women ’ s division and more . But because this season has been all pro teams playing each other only ( until this event ) the UPBF was put on hold until now , where all of the various UPBF divisions will compete here at the NXL European Championships of Paintball .
First up was the UPBF Veterans / Masters ( aka , old guy division ) with ten countries represented . The preliminary rounds saw Belgium and the USA go undefeated in four game each . France and Poland each won three games . Great Britain won two of their games and Spain , Norway , Italy , Sweden and Bulgaria won one game each or less . In the Veteran ’ s finals it was France versus Belgium , neighboring countries and rivals for sure . And the French did what they often do in UFPB , they won !
The UPBF U-16 Young Guns ( boys ) saw 11 teams represented , with team USA coming out on fire . Their first four games were won by a combined score of 16-1 . After two preliminary round wins Germany caught fire making it all the way to the finals . In the finals they would meet the Americans and it wasn ’ t pretty . Another blowout win for the US 4-0 .
And like the U-16 ( under 16 boys ), the U-19 team from the U . S . looked very solid in the preliminary rounds with four dominating wins . Norway and France each won three of the opening round games . In the end the boys from America came away champions with a 3-2 win over Norway in the finals .
