On Saturday, Mother Nature would strike. Scattered showers rolled in with dramatic flair, shifting some timetables, and forcing the producers and the commanders to adjust on the fly. For the players, the change in conditions made for more dramatic play and some interesting fire fights in the hedges.
Both sides competed for Quests, which were rolled out one per side per hour with points awarded for exercising control of the specified location for 20 of 60 minutes.
The Curators, Kristy and Mad Frog, doled out the missions at the Cave of Knowledge all weekend long, utilizing a replica Liberty Bell to announce timetables and game changes.
Throughout the day, mini missions were available to players both on and off the field, giving opportunities for non-players to get involved in the event as well. These side quests included puzzles, ciphers, trivia games, and a treasure hunt, which challenged players, commanders, and young guns alike.
“ You have to have your head on straight for the missions and the mini missions,” said Davidson.
On Sunday, the Red Team suffered heavily from attrition, and Assassins Alliance were shifted to the Templar’ s team, which evened the numbers in army strength. Morris also assigned several people specifically to the mini missions, and they set up their camp outside of the Cave of Knowledge to complete these every hour. In so doing, they managed to narrow the wide point margin significantly, as every point was scored off field for the Red Team. Not so for Blue.
Going into the final battle, the margins were close enough that the Illuminati was at risk of winning the game.
“ You have to have your head on straight for the missions and the mini missions,” said Davidson. www. paintball. media
