The themes went deep into a well-written plot line. Amidst the massive head-to-head fire fights, light saber battles were fought for field possession, model droid parts were located around the field to assemble a life-sized R2D2 and a Verline EG-6, and Star Wars themed side-missions were doled out all day.
To start things off, and setting the tone for the rest of the event, Panda recruited 12 kids who showed up to the field expecting to play rec ball. A local hockey team, ages ranging between 14 and 16, the kids were thrown into the 10v10 that determined the choice of spawn, and they held up well. Talk about trial by fire.
At the midday break, Blue had a huge lead, having kept the Red team spawn-trapped for the majority of the day. But when the side switched, Red made a comeback. Panda began utilizing the Penn Dragons stacked up at the Red hospital, the on-field respawn point in the Corner Lot field, to gather players and break out in force for field possession. At the same time, he used Assassins Alliance to apply pressure to the Lost City and Wasteland, thus squeezing the battle into the market.
WIth the field dominance, the Hutts were able to regain enough points to put them back into the game. To keep the vibe light, and unbeknownst to the producers, the generals called one another on the phone and declared a cease fire for 15 minutes and double teamed the third element. But after that, Red would hold the blue army in their insert for the balance of the afternoon, rounding off an epic comeback.
The final battle became the decisive point of the game. The Red team made the quick break for the flag and, despite a near stalemate, were able to hold the Blue team back long enough to win both the battle and the game as a whole. But, the journey to the darkside was not yet complete.
