They ran a point so quickly that they lost count of the bodies dropping , and their confused mop up took a significant amount of time off of the clock .
The next game was quite the opposite , running painfully long . So long , in fact , that Diesel ’ s Clint Johnson found himself down to just a hopper of paint remaining , forcing him to attempt a run
down on Colt Luckau who was posted in the corner can . As he wrapped , perhaps still a little emotional from the penalty on Heningberg , Johnson gave Colt a “ welcome to the club ” rope up from his waist to his neck , and then turned to make his move for the buzzer . But he drew a penalty for the extra balls , and as he reached for the buzzer , the referee covered it . Not realizing the penalty had been called , Johnson slapped the ref ’ s hand out of the way . Then , while pleading his case Johnson struck the ref in the chest , drawing another major and ejection .
While the rope-up hit social media like a wildfire , it was the contact with the referees that was the major mental error , and from that point forward , the penalties against Diesel were flying . Three more would be called on Diesel and the repeated body advantages would allow Fit to trounce Diesel 7-2 .
Amidst the chaos of the Texas brawl , the other match of the set between legends Dynasty and Impact was almost overshadowed . But it was not lacking in its fireworks either . Frustration oozed from Dynasty and in the fourth game of the
080 paintball . media magazine match , they made a rookie mistake , taking a gross major for wiping in the middle of the field . Impact dominated by playing a disciplined game on the other hand , and went up 4-2 . Dynasty made a run at a comeback , but Impact dug in and played too tight for Dynasty to unlock their zone , so as time whittled away , so did the Dynasty run at fifth consecutive World Cup title .

The Final Showdown

Impact , one of the winningest teams in the history of the NXL was heavily favored going into the final match against PaintballFit , seeing their first season as a professional team . Knowing the background of this match , no one was ready for the show that they were about to witness .
The first point was flawless by Impact . Slow and methodical . In the second point , Impact surgically picked Fit apart as time just ticked away . With 1:04 left on the clock , Fit finally threw the towel . And it seemed that the energy was being drained from Fit .
But then something strange happened . As both teams took the start boxes , the pit staff for Fit began making a ruckus about a malfunction in the towel button , saying it failed , and that they intended to concede the previous point before the game clock was stopped . In the time it took to review that , Fit seemed to recollect themselves .
