Quarter Finals
So the Quarters would shape up as Diesel v Scalp , two old-school grudge matches in Dynasty v Heat and Impact v X-Factor , and the underdog story of the Rookie vs the beast : Fit and Red Legion . Scalp put up a heck of a fight against the surging ac : Diesel , proving that European paintball is a force to contend with , dragging the slow , methodical match out to a tight 3-2 margin with Diesel coming out still alive . Dynasty ’ s performance against Heat was a masterclass in communication from Marcello Margott . And driven by that grounding factor , Dynasty ’ s chaotic style would prove too much for Heat ’ s more reserved style of play as the Dragon came out with a 5-1 win . And Impact would topple X-Factor in a 5-2 victory .
But the match that had everyone cheering was the series leaders Red Legion facing off against the young PaintballFit . Legion came into this matchup undefeated and with two titles for the season under their belts . They played a nearly perfect weekend , having dominated the likes of Houston Heat and X-Factor , making it look easy . But Fit was undaunted and unrelenting in the slugfest that went to overtime , and managed to slay the giant in an overtime win coming out alive for a 5-4 win and gaining a Semifinal berth with all of the momentum and the crowd behind them .
The Legion would take fifth place at this event , while disappointing as it may be , was still enough to send them to the podium at the end of the day and earn them a series title for 2024 .
Semifinals
As the Semifinals began , the heat was on , and the crowd was about to witness some of the best paintball ever to be played in the history of the World Cup , beginning with a Texas-style showdown between two home-teams in ac : Diesel and PaintballFit .
This matchup played out like a grudge match . Diesel came out hard , quickly going up 2-0 , but Fit stood in strong playing slow , disciplined paintball . In the third game of the match , Fit would find themselves in a body-dominant position with a five-on-two set up but remained cool , held back , and waited for Diesel to make the mistake sure to come . B . J . Heningberg would be the one to make it . Down to a five-on-one , Cyrus Garringer ran Heningberg down and dropped an extra ball on him . Continuing his wrap , behind B . J ., Cyrus was in BJ ’ s exit from his position and drew a bodycheck from B . J . that would result in a game changing penalty . The referees issued a major for physical contact , and they put B . J . and Cyrus in the penalty box for the remainder of the match .
When the next game started , it was still 5-on-5 as the two penalties against B . J . and Cyrus off-set each other . But without B . J ., Diesel was now weak in the center , and Fit was charged up .
