Five Teams in the Hunt for a World Cup Win and Season Title
The Semiprofessional division is packed with talented teams and players from all over the U . S . as well is places like Germany , Mexico , Kazakhstan and Canada . Leverage , Royal City Seadogs , New York Wrecking Crew and Noobies were all playing the ‘ Cup with a chance to win the season series Semipro title . There ’ s so much at stake here with bragging rights , sponsorships , elevation to the Pro division , and each team ’ s future on the line . And all off the teams are here for the fun , the vibe , the sunshine , the camaraderie , their paintball families , and to simply do what they do … play paintball at a very high level .
In the preliminary rounds Leverage , KC Missouri All Stars , New Jersey Jesters and Preferred Mob each won their four games . Greenville Growl , Shut Up We ’ re Trying , Nasty and Tiki ’ s Totem each won three of four . It was clear after the preliminary rounds that there were about ten teams that had a chance to win this Semipro event . The rest appeared to be battling to break into the top ten and end the season on a high note .
In the semifinals Leverage shut out a good team in Greenville Growl 5-0 and were starting to show the reason third place was their worst finish this season . Royal City Seadogs , another really strong team , looking for their first event win of the season , sent the KC Missouri All Stars home early with a 5-2 beatdown . Preferred Mob , who missed Chicago , bounced Noobies surprisingly easily 6-0 . And the New Jersey Jesters beat fellow New York , New Jersey tristate area rivals New York Wrecking Crew 6-5 .
This set up two great final-round matchups . The Royal City Seadogs would take on Preferred Mob , two excellent teams but neither with a firstplace win yet in 2024 . In the end one would be joyous and the other would be bitterly disappointed . This one played out about how most would have predicted — a back and forth match in which the lead changed hands more times than Prince changed his name in the 90s . It was a whoever-scores-thelast-point-wins type of game . And it was Canada ’ s Royal City who came out on top 5-4 to claim their first-place win and place them second behind Leverage on the season-ending leaderboard .
