“ We started as a scenario team with no interest in tournaments ,” said Jacob Easter , captain of the Teddys “ This season , we decided that we wanted to get more competitive , and I saw the WCPL as the best way to transition a team that wants to win .”
He went on to say that the WCPL offers the advantage of playing with the legends of the sport . “ No where else can you play alongside the guys that literally invented the equipment we are running with , learning directly from them , while still playing at a competitive level ,” he said .
As with many of the WCPL events , this one saw international representation with players from as far as the Netherlands , Canada , and the UK Predators ’ own Marcus Davis and Bart Farmer who played with The Band . But it did not have the pomp and circumstance or the fanfare that other leagues in the sport pride themselves on .
Instead , the atmosphere of WCPL has been more family-focused , and great lengths were taken at this season ’ s culmination to preserve this feeling of a reunion .
On Friday , a player ’ s reception was held following the captain ’ s meeting at the hotel where the majority of players were staying . On Saturday , the producer ’ s hosted a player ’ s party which was attended by the majority of participants in the tournament .
And the after hours festivities continued in the hotel lobby until the wee hours .

But according to both Gadberry and Easter , it isn ’ t just the strong community feeling that makes the WCPL special . This league , they said , offers something that no other league is offering : pure woodsball .
