A Look Back …

Looking back to the first ICPL event of the season it was Los Angeles Infamous that walked away with the top prize and biggest trophy in the ten-man Professional division . Ground Zero Gold and KAPP Factory took second and third respectively . Image won the Amateur Division just single digital points ahead of Team Smoke and Mutiny . For this event both Mutiny and Image moved up in class to the Pro division . And in the Open five-man division it was ac X , Mutiny and Savages finishing in the top three .
For the first time in the short history of the ICPL , the Pro division reached 24 teams here in Chicago . The number of iconic paintball teams entered was staggering : Teams like the All Americans , Aftershock , Infamous , Farside , Annihilators , KAPP Factory , Saberwolves , Black Sunday , Fatal Swoop , Los Angeles Infamous and many more . The staging area and spectator netting was lined with jersey names like Cagnoni , LaSoya , Lemanski , Gadberry , Canavero , Rose , Donaldson , Rathbun , Fraige , Dresser , Ceranski , Love , Adamson and the rest of the who ’ s who of professional paintball of days gone by — and days that are back again .

The Games

Los Angeles Infamous picked up right where they left off in Tampa in 2004 … I mean Maryland , with 601 points in the preliminary rounds . The Saints ( raise your hand if you thought this team would be near the top of the class before the season started ) pulled off a preliminary round score of 594 points , good for second on the leaderboard . ac : Empire rounded out the top three after round one with a score of 538 points .
Also advancing to the semifinals in the pro ten-man division were Fight Club , Farside , All Americans , Ground Zero Gold , ac : Empire , Image and Chicago Aftershock .
