In the Amateur ten-man preliminary rounds ThunderHorse blew away everyone they faced . In fact , in their seven prelim games they had only one game with less than four bodies alive at the end and totaled 683 of a possible 700 points . After an opening game loss , the Saberwolves , who missed the Maryland event and were relegated to the Amateur division , rattled off six consecutive max wins to put together a 599-point preliminary round , good for second place heading to the next round . The Scorpions also totaled six wins in seven preliminary round games and totaled 596 points .
The Amateur division employed the same three-team , three-division semifinals as the Pros did . In the first division ThunderHorse won their two games with a max and bodycount game to move onto the semifinals . Hydra . Fit beat Louisville Asylum . The next bracket saw the Saberwolves win one and lose one , taking out nine of their opponents in the loss . The high body-count saved the Saberwolves as they edged out Fraction 115 to 98 to move onto the finals . Team Smoke maxed both of their semifinal games , easily moving on .
The Amateur finals were a defensive slugfest . With each game having a max score of 100 points , no team in the finals scored more than 17 points in a final-round game . In the end it was Team Smoke with a final round total of 33 taking first place over ThunderHorse with 32 points and Saberwolves and their 27 points . Amazing .
