The International Classic Paintball League ( ICPL ) held its second and final event of the 2021 season at the legendary Badlandz Paintball field in Crete , Illinois . The Badlandz has been home to major national-level events since the early 1990s and was a regular stop on the five-event National Professional Paintball League ( NPPL ) circuit in the mid-90s and throughout the decade . It ’ s been home to Aftershock since the day the team was formed and many other teams have called Badlandz their home field , including The Enemy and many others . Badlandz was also the home of the first permanent Hyperball field in the U . S .
The ICPL and this Windy City Open feature classic style ten-man paintball on the weekend and five-man on the Friday of each event . And by classic we mean woodsball and Hyperball fields , and occasionally mounds fields or hybrid woods / Hyperball fields . Electronic markers are allowed and are capped at 5.5 balls per second . Mechanical guns are also allowed .
For this event three fields were used . There were two Hyperball fields and one woodsball field . All three fields , including the woodsball field had spectating . Between the fields was the modest but robust vendor village .
