The event saw a strong turnout over last year’ s inaugural event, and energetic gameplay characteristic of Midwest scenario ball. The relentless character of local teams combined with the story-driven game design of producer DJ Honu Fox made for a stream of large coordinated assaults, smoke-filled objectives, and surprises around nearly every corner.
Vendors and paintball brands were also present throughout the weekend, including Planet Eclipse and PBSports, helping create a festival-like environment around the staging areas. As always, the heart of the event goes beyond the action on the field and into the campground where players from both teams gather around fires to swap stories, trade gear tips, and reconnect with friends from previous scenario events.
The generals for this event are both of Magfed descent. Junior Wong of Los Sicarios commanded the Red team- The Midwest Federation, and Zachariah“ Zeke” Jones of Mitten Tactical commanded the Great Lakes Defense Force- the Blue team- with XOs John Lee of Otter Chaos and Ro Huck of Fox Den Michigan.
Saturday challenged commanders out of the gate with objectives in the heart of highly-contested territory. They struggled to balance supply line management and hold key positions with the point scores going back-and-forth all day. Zeke and the Blue team seemed to take advantage of high value missions both on and off the field, prioritizing everything from flag stations to board games.
