Semi Pro Division
Competition in the Semi-Pro division was spicy, with the French and the Portuguese teams showing dominance throughout the weekend. For the French, two teams from Toulouse- the Black Wolves and Toulouse Purple- would top their respective brackets coming out the prelims, with Weapons Saint Dizier and RNPPC in a close second behind them. SL Benefica was the clear standout team throughout the weekend, however, coming in as the one seed, and proving why they hold it through the semifinals. In the semifinals, they squared up against Weapons Saint Dizier in the only match that seemed to bring their dominance into question, but came out of that sparring match on top 2-1.
The story of the weekend though, was the upstarts from the UK- Trash Pandas. The Trash Pandas surprised the competition in the prelims, giving up only four points overall, and taking just one tight-margin, grueling loss to the powerhouse Toulouse Black Wolves. They would make the Ochos on Sunday with little contention, and then fight their way to a podium finish via a landslide victory over FiveStar, a neck-and-neck slow attrition match in the quarterfinals against rivals Sporting CP, and then a 3-0 beating issued to BM United in the semifinals that knocked the Belgians out of medal contention.
