Originally, the game written as a nation-against-nation event, pitting players and commanders from the United States against Canadians. Unfortunately, geopolitical tensions threw a wrench into the works and had a fairly significant impact on the overall numbers.
“ We do our best to stay out of all politics at Hell Survivors because paintball should be an escape from reality,” Biga said. But, he said some players expressed discomfort about crossing the border with everything that had been going on.
For the players that did show from Canada, they reported that they had no issues with their crossing.
The Red team had a rough go from before the game started with command staff dropping out last minute. Jon“ SidewinderPB” Metcalf stepped up to a commander position and Noah“ Gremlin” Vance came on as his XO. The Blue team was led by Junskii Baez of One Shot One Kill( 1SOK New York) and XO Zacharia Jones of Mitten Tactical.
Saturday the game started with mission objectives for capturing the Ares Alpha boxes. Blue team moved quickly securing the objectives before lunch. Following lunch, more objectives were placed out to challenge players and change the gameplay. Biga utilized capture-the-flag to score field control throughout the day, and had three major missions for additional points. The“ Goblin” tank provided support to both sides throughout the weekend with rule sets around how they services were acquired.
