Texas and tournament paintball have a long and successful history and partnership . This year ’ s National Xball League ( NXL ) Lone Star Major , held in Round Rock , Texas wasn ’ t the first rodeo for paintball in Texas — far from it ! In fact , the NXL has held an event in Texas seven out of the last eight years . And before the NXL , the PSP held many an event in Texas — as did the NPPL , the Lively Series and even the National Survival Game ( NSG ) dating way back to the mid-1980s . And we ’ ve seen it all in Texas — from the Ironmen winning in back-to-back-to-back Dallas events in the early 1990s , to the PSP sub-freezing event a little more than a decade ago — and everything in-between .
And Texas teams have done a lot of winning in the pro division over the years . Texas Storm was an early powerhouse team from Texas . And teams like the original Houston Heat and later the new Houston Heat , ac : Dallas , San Antonio X-Factor and many more have carried that torch , surpassing what even the best early Texas teams did on the field .

Here we go again ! With event Number One in the books ( Sunshine State Major ), the second event of the season is where teams really start to show who they are . In colder regions , it ’ s warmed up enough to get regular practices in and that alone is enough to tighten the competition in the pro ranks .
The league ’ s second event of the season took place in Round Rock , Texas , a twentyminute drive from beautiful downtown Austin . And as always , the team count was high and the excitement in the air was higher . The NXL has done a great job bringing that Euro vibe to their events and this one was no exception . The vendor village saw plenty of traffic , as did the grandstands . Happy , Shiny People were everywhere .
