The Games

For the first non-major event the Lone Star Open had a surprising 15 professional teams , including most of the big-name Pro teams like San Diego Dynasty , Houston Heat , San Antonio X-Factor , Los Angeles Infamous , Edmonton Impact and more . The biggest notable Pro team absent from the Lone Star Open was the newly formed and super-hyped Latin Saints , who are gearing up for the NXL ’ s Mid-Atlantic Major .
Of the 15 Pro teams Edmonton Impact was the only team to win all four of its preliminary round games — but it was a grind . Impact won their first game 8-7 over Baltimore Revo , then beat NRG Elite by a single point . In their third game they shutout the Los Angeles Ironmen 6-0 and won another one-point game against San Diego Aftermath .
Los Angeles Infamous , Houston Heat , New Orleans Hurricanes and NRG Elite each won three of their four prelim games . Shockingly San Diego Dynasty , the season ’ s opening event winners , lost their first two games to X-Factor and Infamous and failed to make the Sunday cut .
The Pro Xball quarterfinals saw Edmonton Impact take down the New Orleans Hurricanes , who bumped up from the Semipro ranks this season , 6-3 . Houston Heat took out MLKings 8-5 , NRG Elite shocked San Diego Aftermath 5-3 and Tampa Bay Damage beat Los Angeles Infamous 4-3 . In the end it would be Edmonton Impact facing off against Tampa Bay Damage for all the marbles … And Damage was up to the challenge , taking down Impact 4-3 in a tough , tough battle . This would be the first major win for Tampa Bay Damage since the 2013 PSP Mid Atlantic Open .
