“ I learned from them how to really take control over the field since I know it pretty well and to help guide my team,” Hope said, and she came away with insights on where she can grow.
When asked what the biggest challenge was for her, she gave a veteran’ s reply:
“ Probably just the communication,” she said.“ Honestly, a few people didn’ t really want to talk or listen to me, maybe because I’ m a girl or younger. I just wish I was more firm with my words and more aggressive.”
Words of wisdom right there.
Her sister, Heaven, commanded the Purple team with XOs Jason Berenato and Chris Soriano
“ It was a learning experience for the both Chris and I as this was our first time being Commander & XO, leading a team through a different type of paintball scenarios,” she said.“ I learned that we all needed to work together to take the win. Maui Paintball’ s now-“ field mom”, Nancy Ah Sing, worked closely with producer DJ Honu Fox and his wife, Lani, to anchor the weekend’ s spirit. Their presence symbolized continuity despite changes within the OhanaPB community since the last Hawaiian event in 2024, bridging past, present, and future players. Proof that, no matter how much changes, some things will always remain the same. By coordinating this event, supporting, or simply encouraging others from the sidelines, they made sure to embodied what makes scenario paintball different from any other format: it’ s built on relationships.
The battlefield itself added its own personality to the event. The horseshoe layout at Maui Paintball, combined with dynamic elevations, created a field that demanded both strategy and stamina. And although the field is laid out on a relatively small footprint compared to what the mainland players are accustomed to, Maui Paintball adapted by utilizing the trees: they built up instead of out. With a network of scaffolds and platforms spanning the majority of the field, it is essentially a multilevel area with a final battle-level of intensity in constant progress below. www. paintball. media
