Why The King ’ s Cup Name ?
listen , sitting here I just can ’ t believe that I ’ ve come to this point . A couple of years ago when this idea of putting an event on the beach came up I was like , nah , this isn ’ t going to happen . The owner of Pattaya Paintball Park ( Mr . Taipop Junsmuit ), an amazing paintball field that everyone should go see said to me ‘ he wanted to take the event to another level .’ He said , ‘ can you design something for me on the beach ?’ I said there ’ s no way man … the permits , the cost … and he said , ‘ go ahead and do it and we ’ ll figure it out .’”
“ And we sat down and we drew this thing out on paper — and at the end of the year we released this 3-D graphic of what we were building . We designed it and I was really skeptical that we could do it , but look behind me man …. we got 99 percent of what we drew out . I ’ m almost speechless , you know ? The idea was to introduce paintball to the area in a new way . But it had to be big enough , enough
money spent so that the Governor of Chonburi would show up . And he did and both Mayors too . ( Note : Central Pattaya has a Mayor , as does the Jomtien Beach section of Pattaya .). We also had a representative for the King show up … the military was here , the national press as well .”

Why The King ’ s Cup Name ?

“ In order to make this really interesting for the Thai people , we really wanted to get the King ’ s name on the event . This is a huge honor . The King , no matter who he is here in Thailand , is always revered . So we were able to get approval for that and you ’ ll see Thai people wanting to touch the Cup . You saw the military had to carry the Cup into the event . The King ’ s picture must me next to the Cup at all times , It ’ s such an honor . For a Thai team to win the King ’ s Cup will be a memory that will last a lifetime .”
