day , allowing them to easily capture missions and props behind the line of battle .
“ I had to pull my guys back a couple of times ,” Henny said . “ Production asked me to do it twice , but I did it on my own a couple of times as well .”
He utilized tactical and magfed squads like Assassins Alliance as the tip of the spear , and then other squads as hammers to drive the opposition back , effectively clearing the field .
“ I ’ m a bully ,” Henny said . “ That ’ s what people say , so I ’ m embracing the characterization .”
But in sum , Henny just said he surrounds himself with teams of active and hungry players , and he let them off their leashes . “ When you ’ ve got hungry players , they ’ re going to dominate the game because that ’ s what hungry players do ,” he said .
Most of the day on Saturday , these Henny ’ s dogs did damage and ultimately broke the spirits of the South .
Whitey said one of the turning points of the game for him was thanks to John “ Goat ” Hoffmeister of LAPD . For twenty minutes or so , Hoffmeister stood wearing his staple Panda bear head toe-tapping on the insertion line . He would step into the field of play , get shot , step out , and then reinsert . For Whitey ’ s part , he had to take a bathroom break so he didn ’ t mess himself from laughing .
After that episode , there was a meeting in the command tent . Both Henny and Whitey took a look at the map and the scoreboard and made a determination to just have fun .
“ I conceded , and I gave Henny the belt ,” Whitey said .
Sunday saw a lot of attrition between the two teams . Neither the field or the weather was conducive for camping , so many players made a day trip out of the event and did not return on Sunday .
They missed out . The teams that did stay were restructured , and the major missions were played on Sunday , including a massive crate puzzle . The pieces of the puzzle were placed at the top of a hill , each one a massive box of its own that required a two-man carry to return it to the teams ’ respective command posts . Once there , the massive puzzle was assembled .
“ Everyone who continued to play the game had fun doing it ,” Whitey said . “ They kept coming back for more because they enjoyed the game , and that ’ s what it ’ s really about .”
For its first iteration , Urban Legends saw a solid draw and the field was well received . Henny says he is looking forward to seeing what CPX puts together with this event next year and is optimistic about its future . Cousins Skyline has expressed a desire for a 2026 return , and CPX seems eager to oblige .
As for Whitey , he said that he had a blast along with the squads who stayed , and he is pressing forward with a personal philosophy : “ Win if you will . Die if you must . But go ahead and cheat [ a little ], because you know they ’ re gonna .”
