No one knew what the first ever Major League Paintball ( aka “ NXL ”) Summit Awards would be like . Not even Tom Cole , the NXL ’ s President and architect of the Summit Awards Ceremony . About an hour before the event began , I asked Tom how he felt about things as the doors were about to open and he said , “ I ’ ve never been more nervous about anything in my life .” In retrospect , there was never anything to be nervous about . When I asked Gino Postorivo , CEO of Valken what he thought of the event he told me , “ Awesome . It was better than anything you or I ever did back in the day , right ?” Yep , I agree .
Setting the Scene
The Summit Awards took place in the Azilo Ultra Pool area at the Sahara Hotel and Casino on the famous Las Vegas Strip . And calling this event “ spectacular ” would be a spectacular understatement . First of all , the location was incredible . The Azilo Ultra Pool is a very large courtyard and pool area , enclosed by four walks of the hotel resort . As you walk through the main doors to the event the first thing you saw was a bank of huge TV screens displaying all things paintball — the MLP logo , the NXL logo , scenario game
