There is never a shortage of laughter at a CPX event , and that sense of family is what keeps people coming back year over year .
Adding to the sense of family , Honu and company is renowned for the giveback efforts to the community , showing love especially strong for the youth . This year , the young players brought it full circle . For starters , there were 851 players registered for Bones and Ashes this year . Of that number , 125 of them were under the age of 18 . Then there was the award ceremony tear-jerker . Three years ago , youngster Bryce Davis , attending his first scenario game ever , was presented a young gun package by CPX . Fast forward three years , Davis was given a brand new package and decided to pay his first one forward to help another young gun to launch their paintball journey .
There are few places in this world where people from all over geographically , socioeconomically , and culturally can come together and become a chosen family of this kind . And perhaps that is what makes CPX events so special . Rob “ Slim ” Maryland said it in his sign-off post , and it can be left here in the same fashion :
“ I know that we are all going through things in this roller coaster that we call life . I hope that this weekend helped ease those burdens that we all face ,” he said . And then offered the poignant reminder that , “ You are not alone ! ~ Slim ”
