From a player ’ s perspective , the game was fairly balanced to everyone ’ s surprise , and according to the late-night rally speech from Slim and company , the Blue team was only trailing by a 50 point deficit .
But , in the end , the truth betrayed them on the stage Sunday afternoon . Red issued a massive punt-kick to the nuts of Slim with a landslide win of more than 300 points .
Still , as is often the case with a CPX event , the scores are often a mere footnote . What happens off-field is always as much of the event as what happened on the field . In the campground , the music never stops . The people hardly sleep . And the shenanigans mostcertainly run as deep as the Black Ops mud .
The sense of community looms large as teams set up their respective compounds and life unfolds in a suspended bubble of festival-style , paintball-centric bonding , and the sky is the limit for what you will find . This year , there were even hair cuts and an entire box truck full of Girl Scout cookies for sale . Teddy Bear and company would shoot up a bare-footed DJ Honu in an American Gladiator run on the hyper pipe field . And there were reports of bare-backed piggy back rides happening somewhere around 2 a . m .
