meetings , or the rankings system , or the flaws of a particular league they were covering that issue . For those familiar with PCRI ’ s “ On The Edge ” column in the early and mid-90s , it was a riff on that column but much more in-depth . And the majority of what P8nt did was before anyone heard of PbNation and the other websites that would later follow the leagues .
You could make a case that P8nt was a blip on the paintball magazine radar with its 24 issues , compared to APG ’ s 300-plus issues , or PB2X ’ s 170-plus issues — but you ’ d be wrong . Sometimes longevity leaves an indelible mark and sometimes seizing the moment does . P8nt seized a moment like no other .
F8MOUS
Where to start ? When Hass , Dilts and Matty Marshall first promo ’ d F8MOUS , they asked for $ 50 per book , promising 300 pages of content . Later they expanded the number of people that could pledge $ 50 or more and receive the book , stating they also added another 50 pages to the book , bringing the total number of pages to 350 . In the end , they delivered F8MOUS at 440 pages in a beautifully bound hard cover . PLUS , another book called “ The Lost Rolls ” which itself was another 100-page hardcover book . And the two books were delivered in a beautiful slide-out hardcover package , perfect for your bookshelf or coffee table . Way to undersell and over deliver . Well done !
The main book is divided into four chapters : Heroes , On The Break , Live The Life and Ride Or Die , with a prologue that explains the origins of the Survival Game . Each of the four chapters contains the imagery we all came to know and love from 1999-2004 . Like the magazine , FAMOUS ’ photography is largely black and white , super artistic and presented brilliantly . There is more imagery than text , but plenty of great writing and history to keep you reading for a month .
