At one point , my hand started throbbing really badly . Your adrenaline ’ s flowing , so you ’ re not thinking much of it , and my hand is hurt a little bit and the ref comes over ‘ cause he sees me shaking my hand . He said , “ Are you OK ?” And I said , “ yeah , my hand just hurts .” A couple more minutes goes by and then all of a sudden my hand is just throbbing . So I look down and my hand is like three times its normal size and I don ’ t know what the heck is going on . So I end up taking off the glove and I mean I almost had to rip it off . That ’ s how swollen it was .
The ref comes back , sees the hand and says , “ your hand is not OK . Come on , you need to get off field ” and I told the guy “ no , I ’ m still in this game man . We got a tournament to win and I need a paycheck .” So I kept playing , get communicating , moving finally . Towards the end , I think there might have been one or two minutes left in the game and the pain was just astronomical . It had moved all the way up my arm . My fingers were almost the size
at that point of quarters . And I mean , my hand just looked like the Michelin balloon man .
Now my fingers , my hand and my arm are really huge . One of the guys that worked at the field ended up throwing me in his car and took me to the emergency room .
An hour goes by ... two hours goes by and I look down at my hand and I notice that the color was like a ghost white . What was happening was all the pressure had started to cut off the blood circulation . After a lot of kicking and screaming I finally got a doctor to see me .
They cut me to drain the air out and basically put me on morphine and at some point that night Bob and a bunch of the guys came . They heard what was going on , came to visit me in the hospital before they flew out . And then Bob said he would work with one of the guys to find a way to get me home , which was awesome .
