At 7:15 a. m., parking was already filling up from the overnight campers and early risers, determined to get a good spot in staging. They were here for Balance of Power XI: Eleventh Hour, produced by Strike Harder Productions on May 23rd and 24th. This iteration of the Midwest’ s premier magfed paintball scenario pitted the robot hunter-killers of Arnovus Military Systems( Blue) against the tenacious Human Restoration Alliance( Red). It was evident that Strike Harder’ s Derek Phoungphol and Jason Friedrich began planning immediately after last year’ s Balance of Power X. Nearly 200 players came to spend the weekend at the legendary Apocalypse Paintball in Poynette, Wisconsin for the action.
Apocalypse, home to every Balance of Power is a wonder in Wisconsin. A fourstory keep, the POW camp( Vietnam-style huts on wooden stilts), and a covered trenchworks sunken into the ground keep play varied and exciting. The signature land-bridge runs the entire eastern length of the field, providing a means to sneak towards enemy’ s HQ. Usually, it’ s meant to be a quiet infiltration. Frequently, it turns into a loud battle in the brush. Always, it’ s a lot of fun.
