“ It allowed players to move around and get involved in the game in a way that they may not have been able to otherwise,” he said.“ They were able to take different paths, and not constantly running into people and having to fight their way through lines allowed them to do other things they were asked to do.”
And“ things” they did. There was no shortage of missions all weekend: Blow up bridges. Retrieve props. Fuel up tanks. Retrieve combination codes and figure out how to utilize them to open secured crates that were scattered all over the field. And so much more. However, the highlight of the weekend for the Allies, according to Flintlock, was when they were able to successfully exfiltrate and carry fifty scuba tanks, which were canisters of nerve gas, off the field.
“ They were so excited when they found out we got all fifty,” he said.“ It was great.”
“ I have to give credit to [ XO ] Jaysin and Arty [ Menichini ]. They worked the Black Market with Barney well,” Flintlock said.“ I had great help.”
“ I have to give a shout out to Jack [ Crisci ],” Flintlock said. Cypher Scenario structures their games with base referees who distribute missions, help manage game tempo, and serve as a resource for commanders in their decisions. Jack played the liaison to General Eisenhower and he never broke character according to Flintlock.“ He played the role very well, and it made the game fun for me.”
Flintlock recounted a story about one massive prop in particular.
