Paintball has taken me to some amazing places in my 39 years playing and covering the game . From Australia to Aruba and all over Europe , to Malaysia the UK and most of our amazing 50 United States , traveling has been one of the highlights of my time in paintball . And this year I was lucky enough to spend two weeks in Thailand ( plus a quick flight over to beautiful Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia ), meeting some of the most incredibly friendly and caring people that I ’ ve found anywhere . And yes , there was paintball to be played , fields to be seen and meals to be had with some of the movers and shakers in Southeast Asian paintball .
After a few days traveling around Thailand I made my way to Speed Paintball and Airsoft , located around 30 miles ( 45 km ) from downtown Bangkok , for the second leg of the NAWASIA Tournament Series . This event sold out months ago — just one day after the registration opened . Amazing .
Although this was a one-day event , the field was packed on Saturday , the day before the event started . Teams from Japan , Taiwan , Singapore , Malaysia , Thailand and players from all over Asia and even as far as the United States came to play this second leg of the series . And just watching the field walk I could tell the level of play here would be very strong and very competitive . Speed Paintball and Airsoft is quite the amazing facility . They have just one field but it is incredible . Flags from countries around the world sit atop the 20-foot netting surrounding the field .
