The Paintball Hall Of Fame Is Broken ... But It Can Be Fixed ! --Part 1 of ?
II ’ ve wanted to write this series for about five years now but I just couldn ’ t .
The history of the game of paintball is the single most important thing to me in my long professional life . And documenting that history has been my focus for many years . Back to this later …
I was inducted into the Paintball Hall Of Fame ( PHOF ) in April of this year . It ’ s an honor for sure to be voted in by your peers . But this honor also came with a caveat . That caveat or the question is this : How meaningful is it really to be inducted into the Paintball Hall of Fame ?
I ask this question because this Hall of Fame clearly has people in it that have no business even sniffing the PHOF . I mean no disrespect to those people or the people that voted them in . They are just following the nominating and inducting process . But this is a process that is severely broken .
Had I written an article series critical of the PHOF before I was inducted , it would have been perceived by some as sour grapes . But know this , long before I was inducted I have been voicing my concerns privately to those that made the rules and created the nominating and inducting process . I consider those people to be my friends , not just paintball business associates . I know with great confidence that these people have only the best interests at heart for paintball . This group began this journey of putting together the Paintball Hall of Fame with only the best intentions and that hasn ’ t changed in the eight or so years since they started .
I believe everything that I will be addressing in this series is fixable and will make for an even stronger PHOF to honor our game .
