Day 2 of the prelims was a little more stressful . Canobie Factory dropped their first two games needing to win the last one to advance to the playoffs . They were able to pull it out , but the biggest story of the day was Manchester Half Cock ’ d . On day 1 they lost their first three games , but were able to turn it around day 2 and squeak into the next round .
As prelims ended the OG Hurricanes sat comfortably in first place , earning themselves a spot straight to the finals and an automatic podium finish regardless of how they played next . The other teams had to face each other in two 3 team brackets with the top team in both going to the finals . The Anti-heroes continued to defy expectations wining both of their playoff matches . In the other bracket Canobie Paintball Factory was able to earn their spot , setting up a round robin finals between them Anti-Heroes and the OG Hurricanes .
Game 1 of the finals was between OG Hurricanes and Canobie factory . A battle which ultimately ended with the Hurricanes hanging the flag . Game 2 was between Canobie and the Anti-Heroes which Canobie factory was able to win . While it seemed reserved that this meant the Hurricanes would win their next match and take first place , Matt Falbe of the Anti-Heroes had other plans . To the excitement of the crowd he wanted to win this match himself . Moving fluidly up the center before moving into the snake and finding himself on the opposing teams side of the snake he was able to shoot 3 players before getting bunkered . This earned Matt Falbe the “ big brain award ” of the tournament . Unfortunately his team behind him let him down by not being able to shoot anyone else . This ended the tournament with the Anti-Heroes still earning the 3rd place podium spot .
All in all it was a great event at a great facility with reffing that was praised even by the losing teams . I can ’ t wait for the next one .
