Not your problem , though keep an eye on it because that is a problematic player that can jeopardise people ’ s safety in other ways . Safety is your top priority . Now , you can not do this standing around talking to the other refs on the boundaries . You need to find a spot that allows you to get the maximum vantage point to see most of the field . As the action moves , move with the action . Be aware of where everyone is , or you are going to get caught in the crossfire and you CAN NOT get mad when you do . They are inexperienced players . Most likely rentals and they are just there to have a good time . They have no idea how to control the pure adrenaline surging through their veins triggering their fight or flight responses .
I hear you out there saying wait a minute … you do not care if players wipe ? That is so WRONG ! Nope , and let me explain why . After you keep everyone safe , you next job is to make everyone have the time of their lives . You want everyone leaving happy and craving to come back . In order to do this , the rule book needs to go out the window . So , a person wipes . So what ? Does the other team lose the trophy and the prizes ?
Nope … it is a rec game . If you zero that player out for wiping , what happens is they become angry or embarrassed . They tell their closer friends that they did not , and the team / game becomes toxic . Moreover , if you are now arguing with a player , you can not be watching the field for the safety of the others . If a player becomes a blatant cheater , on the next game break , inform the field owner and let them handle the discipline of their guest . It is not your job .
Did you think that ignoring wipers is what I meant by breaking rules ? Nope … I literally mean break the rules . For sake of argument , let us say that this is exclusively a rental party we are talking about . Rental parties are the single most important booking to a paintball field . This is where they make most of their income . It is imperative that everyone has a good time , tells their friends , and comes back to play again . So , if this is a rental party , then one side will always be better than the other . If red team wins every single game , do you think blue team is having fun ? Not hardly .
