Mike “ Boogie ” Bogolub has been in the game of paintball since the early 1980s . As a pro player and Ultimate / Head Pro referee , he ’ s seen it all . Each month he ’ ll share a story from his days playing and reffing .
The NPPL / PSP had their last event at the All-Star rock complex in Las Vegas in 2002 . There are many tales of woe from this $ hit fest . The one story I ’ ll tell here is , during preliminary rounds day one I was working the far back Shocktech field and during the game a dust devil started at the back of my field . It started out about three feet high and by the time it made it to the “ 50 ” it was at least 100 feet high and ripping bunkers off the field during play !
A ref on the spider field turned around in time to catch a stand up “ can ” bunker in the face and body and it took him right off his feet . On the field behind me a guy was playing the corner can and when the dust hit he closed his eyes — and when he opened them he was standing in the wide open , middle of the field . It was brutal . Just another event in Vegas !
