And speaking of fun , The Band , a team hand-picked by Fred Schultz stole the show — not because they won the event , or won the majority of their games — but because of their lineup full of Iconic names in paintball . Captained by Fred , The Band featured Cesare Pizzo ( Fusion ), Dan Colby ( Air America ), Bud Orr ( Worr Game Products ), Charles “ Happy ” Holton ( famous for his happiness ?), Tim Scholss ( Tiger Stripe ), Rene Boucher ( Paintball News ), Dave Bell ( Viewloader and now Valken ), Paintball Dave ( Paintball Dave ’ s ) and a handful of other players and industrytypes — mostly known for their 1990s and early 2000s contributions to the game .
In addition to playing the event , The Band spent the weekend just hanging out with the teams and players . For many it was the first chance to meet Bud Orr , Fred Schultz , Dan Colby or any of the team ’ s roster . And they were as accommodating as could be . Saturday late morning the players got another surprise when Tom Kaye ( Airgun Designs ) walked through the staging area . It ’ s been a long time since tom ’ s been at a paintball event and it was great to see him there . Sunday morning Tom Cole ( President of the NXL ) arrived and was quickly recruited to play for Dave Painter ’ s Fox4 Darkside .
