Penang, Malaysia came alive again this June as the 11th edition of the MBPP Mayor’ s Asia Cup drew over 1,100 participants from 113 teams, including 6 international squads, breaking their previous year’ s record and reaffirming its place as Asia’ s largest paintball tournament in 2026. Held on 26-28 June at Padang Polo, a historic sports field in the heart of George Town, the event ran across three fields simultaneously over three days, with six competitive divisions

For a sport still finding its footing on the region’ s sporting calendar, the numbers tell their own story. First introduced in 2008, the tournament has grown steadily under the joint stewardship of the Penang Island City Council( MBPP) and Raskal Sports Sdn Bhd. 2026’ s booming registration reflects just how far its reach now extends. Teams traveled in from Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, Singapore, Brunei, France, Belgium, the USA, Myanmar, and Indonesia, turning it into a genuinely global gathering. Kuwait, registered and publicized as a participating country ahead of the event, ultimately did not make the trip due to the conflict in their region.
