On the second full day, we did lose team members on both sides due to it being Father’ s Day, but we still had very determined players who were hungry for victory on both sides. On the Blue Illuminati side, you could feel the pressure for us to close that gap in points.
Flip helped me cipher things more quickly while I copied the words into my notebook. With his help, we slowly started to gain points faster. I knew we had a lead on the ciphers and puzzles when there was a 1o or so minute gap between me completing a puzzle with a teammate and the Red Assassins even arriving at the puzzle. Echo and Flip worked together well to navigate and lead our teams to their needed positions. You could even see Echo bouncing around anxious to get on the field and help his team. The Red Assassins and Blue Illuminati were tied at the time of the final battle.
The referees explained the final battle rules and the Red won the coin toss for the side selection. From the net’ s viewpoint, Red was to our right side, and Blue to our left. The final battle was intense, but there was a moment of true responsiveness from Solstice Law and Zac when a player lost his mask. They put their bodies and gear on the line to protect the player. Everyone watching was in awe. The player was remasked and the final battle continued. At the end of the game, the Blue won the final battle and the game overall by less than 100 points.
After the game, the commanders gave out several awards. Two stood out: one to TFL for switching sides, and one to me— my first scenario award— for Sportsmanship. These awards, and the memories that came with them, perfectly captured Ohana PB’ s overall goal.
Many players left saying to Honu,“ See you in September.” Ohana PB will be presenting Black Flag on September 5-7, 2025 at Black Ops Paintball / Myrtle Beach SC.
