Ultimately, the score had little impact on the outcome of the event. The Vikings lost the remainder of their matches, and did not make semifinals. The Green Monkey Kings would end up second overall in the event. But it was a stunning match that left some speculating about overtime rules.
The Green Monkeys went on to defeat Balkan Express for a finals berth and then would succumb to the dominant force in Division 2, Oslo Prodigy who took home the gold.
In Division 3 Rage Warsaw took gold with a standout 4-0 victory over the Germans of Chaos Division. The Dutch Outlaw Kings fought 2easy Warsaw for every inch to win a 4-3 slog to take home the bronze.
The Open 3v3 was run as a race to three. That’ s a lot of threes. But this was perhaps the fiercest and fastest competition of the weekend. The Barbarians and Anderix stood out over the rest of the field with the Barbarians entering the finals as the number one seed. Anderix was having none of that however, and dropped the Barbarians into submission with a one-two punch in 0:43 and 0:45 second points consecutively. Talk about a bang bang.
Division 4 only saw three teams enter into a round robin, and it was the German BallEater Loppersum that took home the gold.
Shelly’ s summation of the event truly captured the vibe and the tenor of The Contender’ s Cup in Czechia.
