On June 25th , 2023 , paintball players from across the United States and Canada made their annual voyage to Paintball Explosion in East Dundee , Illinois for World At War 12 ; The Next Battle Front , produced by Payroll Productions . This is the twelfth year and installment making it the largest and longest running paintball event in the Midwest and Chicagoland .
Paintball Explosion was built in 2010 by owners T . J . Andres and Romeo Kapudija . The field provides a one of a kind playing experience due to it being on the grounds of an old amusement park . The facility also boasts the first built to scale “ Nuke town ” from the popular video game Call Of Duty .
This year ’ s event put the following commanders leading the charge for each side :
Coalition ( Blue ) commander : Daniel “ Mute ” Canchola of the Midwest Mercenaries along with XO ’ s Jose “ Snake ” Cardoso from team Anarchy 19 and John “ Preacher ” Vance of Madfrog Militia . Leading the opposition as the Resistance ( Red ) commander : Jason Meckler of Gathering Storm with Co-Commanders from The Rodents Paintball Team .
The game started with both teams hitting each other with extreme resistance . Each side was tasked with removing clay pigeons that were utilized as land mines
“ As game play ended , Madfrog Militia player John Vance used a create-a-mission card to successfully travel to the red team ’ s base and destroy it with a paint grenade . ”
