Tournaments that have been around for a while have a tendency to earn a moniker or two . For the World Classic Paintball League , it is rapidly becoming The Woodstock of Paintball . Known for its low-key vibe and welcoming atmosphere , these events tend to feel a bit like a dysfunctional family reunion . We love each other . We love seeing one another and catching up . But more than anything , we really love shooting each other , preferably in the face .
WCPL held its New York Classic June 9-10 and it was complete with all of its reputed camaraderie and fierce competition . Pro teams from as far as Germany came to sling paint at the likes of the OG Ironmen , Ground Zero , the All Americans , and their continental rivals the UK Predators . With its good times and quality teams , it ’ s clear that this event is rapidly becoming a must-do in the mechanical scene .
Planet Eclipse was one hand , as was Zodiac Paintball , and Gatormaille . The food was off the chain , with tacos and carne asada shredded straight from heaven . And the fields , as always at Paintball Sports Inc , were amazing . A walk down the pits is filled with tons of laughter and that special fragrance of quality . The player from the German squad , 95 Allstars noted , “ All of these Americans and their drugs !” He wasn ’ t wrong . Overall , the atmosphere at this event was laid back , friendly , and fun .
But that ’ s not to say that the event was without its drama . In fact , it had its fair share .
