There have been many surprises in the pro ranks this season . New York Xtreme has stepped up their game with 5th and 4th place finishes in 2023 . Likewise , San Antonio X-Factor has handled the loss of Archie Montemayor , one of the game ’ s best players , like the champs they are . Like Xtreme , X-Factor has 4th and 5th place showings in their first two events of 2023 . And let ’ s be real , how many of us predicted X-Factor and Xtreme would be looking down at Edmonton Impact and Houston Heat in the series rankings ?
The Pro Games
The Pro games started as they usually do — with San Diego Dynasty going undefeated in the preliminary rounds . New Orleans Hurricanes and New York Xtreme also ran the table in the prelims , going 4-0 . Edmonton Impact , San Antonio X-Factor and ac : Diesel each won three of four . Tampa Bay Damage and Houston Heat each won two of their four preliminary round games and advanced to the ocho rounds by the slimmest of margins .
In the ocho rounds both Damage and Heat came alive with huge wins to advance . Houston Heat beat Austin Notorious 6-2 and Tampa Bay Damage speed-bumped Baltimore Revo 6-0 .
In the quarterfinals Houston Heat beat ac : Diesel 6-3 ; Tampa Bay Damage handled business against New Orleans Hurricanes 3-1 ; San Antonio X-Factor won a close 4-3 against New York Xtreme ; and San Diego Dynasty beat rivals Edmonton Impact 5-4 .
